Imagine walking into that grown up friend’s den, where the couches are leather, the coffee is strong and the art is fancy. That’s sort of how we felt when we walked into The A, a private members-only work and leisure club in Lower Parel.

Crouched over 40,000 sq feet, you can think of The A as a coworking space and social club for those serious about growing their networth and network. Yes, this is Bombay’s only shared office space where you can avoid seeing posters that invite you to a game of Friday beer pong, but instead focus on mixers over single malt and TEDx speaker workshops.

The A offers its members new-age work studios, cutting edge virtual reality technology and the opportunity to network with likeminded people, in addition to frills like a gym, spa, bar (the prices are akin to a gymkhana!), coffee house and a fully functioning restaurant. During our recent recce, we ran into members who were movie producers, investment bankers, art collectors, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs, and also randomly-placed novels (thanks The A, for recommending Little Fires Everywhere!).

A+ Events: Leaders For Lunch, Ducks For Dinner

The A also has a stellar crew that plans one hell of a monthly calendar, organising culinary, culture, art and business-led events, plus themed bar mixers (think Elvis Presley tributes over gin cocktails) and skill-based workshops, many of which are open to non-members. In August and September for instance, they hosted a Duck and Pinot dinner with All Things Nice; a screening of Kya Bolta Bantai, a VICE India documentary on gully rappers; leadership talks with; and panels that range from restaurant design to leadership. See full calendar here.

The A Team is super excited to tell you about this August 23 event: 12 Habits to Breakthrough to Your Next Promotion an evening with the authors of How Women Rise, Sally Helgesen (premier women’s leadership expert) and Marshall Goldsmith (bestselling author of What Got You Here Won't Get You There). And all that listening will be rewarded with drinks and tapas.

A room full of entrepreneurs + cocktails? Where do we sign up? It’s by invite only so email to register.
