Today, author and columnist Manu Joseph reads for #bpbSpine, beginning with an excerpt from his new book, Miss Laila Armed And Dangerous, in stores now.
Next, he's nervous about reciting a poem out loud - he's never done this before - but aces the reading of one from Girls Are Coming Out Of the Woods by Tishani Doshi, ending with these beautiful lines: ...whisper into the velvet air. Hello heart, you still there?
And for last he saves Jennifer Egan's Black Box, which "introduces you to the scaffolding of a short story".
