Woodside Inn, Pali Naka: Bandra, let's drink to this - Colaba's favourite neighbourhood bar is coming to Pali Naka this February. The Woodsy boys are currently working hard to ensure that the split-level structure comes with that unmistakable Woodside vibe, an equally comforting menu and a special beer collection put together by co-founder and "Chief Guzzling Officer" Pankil Shah. Pali Naka, Bandra (W), opens in February.

Hotel Shanghigh, Lower Parel: Restaurant czar Zorawar Kalra's new moveable (f)east, Hotel Shanghigh is coming soon to Kamala Mills. On Instagram, Mr Kalra calls it his "love letter to the Shanghai of old", and promises "retro Chinese food and a custom designed runway". Excited about the first, afraid to inquire about the second. Santé, Kala Ghoda: BKC's uber healthy restaurant hopes to be the support system South Bombay needs to stick to its clean eating goals in 2020. The Kala Ghoda branch will have double the amount of seating as compared to BKC, will grow its own microgreens, and launch a new menu. 105, Bombay Samachar Marg, opposite Laxmi Vilas Bank, Kala Ghoda, opens mid February.

Candy Club, Breach Candy: The all vegetarian Candy & Green has turned over a new leaf, and this leaf will now be garnishing your cocktail. Welcome to their latest offering, Candy Club, a rooftop bar that prides itself on cocktail innovation, particularly the ones made with gin. Live acts are on the agenda too, right in time for Bombay's rooftop weather. Hubtown Skybay, Breach Candy, opens in the 2nd week of January.

Thirsty Fox Cider: Born in Somerville, Massachusetts and raised in India, Thirsty Fox ciders are made in small batches using American apples and botanicals sourced from family-run farms. Two variants - a sweet and a semi-dry cider - will be available at wine stores soon. Note: it is already available at a few wine shops. Visit

Social, Vashi: No rest for the wicked or for Team Social. While we were out bringing in 2020, Social built a new home in a Vashi mall, made up of pixelated glass and convex mirrors "that distort how we look at things traditionally". 1st floor, Inorbit Mall, Palm Beach Road, Sector 30A, Vashi, opens this month.

The Ones You Might Have Missed

The Tanjore Tiffin Room, Khar: This "Tamilian Bistro" does a mean mutton pepper fry that you can wash down with a Pondicherry Punch. From Kishore DF, the man who gave Bandra Pot Pourri 25 years ago, this tiffin room hopes to feed you home-style food. Also on the menu: jack fruit cutlets, mini gunpowder idlis, Pankajam’s lamb chops, Karaihudi fried prawns, and more. Downstairs, Colaba: The gleaming marble bar downstairs at Nara Thai is now called...Downstairs. So less thinking, more drinking for you. British mixologist Andrew Hyman runs this room, where he lets you choose from a list of just eight cocktails crafted with quality spirits; home-made infusions; candied, pickled, and de-hydrated treats. Soufflé Si'l Vous Plaît, Churchgate: The French bistro style restaurant by chef Alexis Gielbaum and Nick Harrison of Slink & Bardot; and big timer Riyaaz Amlani quietly replaced Salt Water Cafe at Churchgate last month. Foo, BKC: Since you're probably planning a BKC visit right about now, know this: the Tham brothers' Foo has a new address at The Capital building.
