In the Italian city of Ivrea, teams of citizens throw oranges at each other to re-enact a war that took place centuries ago.
Closer to home at Cincin, oranges will not go to waste, but they will be celebrated nonetheless. And right in time for summer too!
The Italian restaurant at BKC will put out a special menu from March 15 5o April 14, where dishes will be dressed, cooked, glazed and sauced with the zing of oranges. There’s Tuna Carpaccio, with fennel, pea shoots and a refreshing orange dressing; Anatra E Zucca, slow cooked duck marinated and glazed with orange, balsamic onion and pumpkin puree; and fresh hand made Tortello pasta stuffed with prawns, chives and Gorgonzola orange sauce.
And the last segment of the orange is taken up by two desserts - Sfoliata E Mascarpone, a puffed pastry with airy cream, fresh strawberries and orange zest and Mousse Di Cioccolato E Arancia, a rich dark chocolate mousse with orange marmalade laid on a bed of crumbed vanilla biscuits.
And while you’re scarfing it all down, try not to be distracted by the cute mixologist who will be juggling with oranges. Here comes the sun-tra!
Getting there: March 14th to April 14th at CinCin, ground floor, Raheja Towers, near Dena Bank, Bandra Kurla Complex, BKC, call 69956666 to book.
