O Pedro turns one this month, and you should definitely come to the party, because there’s food and drinks and a Goan birthday theme; sea attached good vibes.

The lovely folks at O Pedro are calling this blow out The Great Goan Jam, featuring a feast of Goa’s undiscovered culinary offerings.

From October 8 to 22, come for Goud Saraswat Jay-Vun (lunch and dinner), a menu that culls treats right out of the kitchens of a little-known community called the Goud Saraswat Brahmins (GSB) from Goa. Discover Konkani culinary secrets and pre-Portuguese history through the community’s love for both, seafood and vegetarian cuisine, and their special affinity towards coconut and kokum. Goud bless them!

This Jam is led by home cook Vaishali Joshi & O Pedro chef Hussain Shahzad, who have put their heads together on an a la carte menu, as well as a tasting one available exclusively for dinner and on pre-order only.

The Tasting Menu is served in 4 courses, each course with a selection of quarter plates, half plates, big plates and desserts. Expect to see in your plate Bhaj Ke Pohe (Saraswat-style bhelpuri), Moong Saar (hot moong soup with black mustard), Vadi KISS-MUR (a salad of crispy ash gourd dumplings), Kuval PHOD-NI (spiced lima bean hummus), and GSB Baigan Bharta cooked in coconut oil. Non-vegetarians can dig into dishes like Bombil Rava Fry, Crab TON-DAK (mud crabs cooked with fresh coconut milk, red chilies and garlic), Green Masala Prawn LOAN-CHE (baby prawns pickled with green chilies, garlic and cilantro). The third course served in a thali, comprises six blissful tasting bowls.

Wait, it’s not over yet. End your meal with the PAA-TO-LEO, a turmeric leaf steamed rice pancake stuffed with caramelized jaggery with coconut and the fresh tender coconut pudding.

Prefer not to commit? Then pick similar jewels off the a la carte menu that features dishes like Saraswat Lamb SHA-CUTI and Vegetable Shtew KHAT-KHATE.

And since it’s a birthday party, you can trust that the bartenders will be in full attendance. Goa’s good vibes come courtesy breezy new gin cocktails and limited edition tropical beers, so you can really feel the breeze in your hair. These include the (Cha Cha) With Your Cherry Tonic, a mix of Gin, Cherry Liqueur, Lime and Grapefruit Tonic; (Drink) Your Fruit Cake with Gin, Apple Shrub, Angostra Bitters, Lime, topped up with tonic; and (Pop) The Peru Pinata with Gin, Aperol, Guava Shrub, lime topped with Chandon Brut.

No need to book that Goa plane ticket this month!
