You enjoyed the cocktails and Big Apple vibe when It Happened In New York opened in Bandra in December 2016.

After a quick sabbatical, the restaurant is now back as The Benedict, in a new avatar but the same old philosophy – a thoughtful menu that focuses on local ingredients with dishes inspired by the five boroughs of New York. You’ll also spot new dishes on the menu, an active in-house bakery and coffee from Koinonia.

Let’s Be Old Fashioned

Also notable is The Benedict’s commitment to high-quality cocktails. The bar here list relies on centuries’-old expertise, combined with the perspective of modern-day mixologists. Divided into eight chapters, the menu is designed to take guests on a journey through the history of drinks, including everything from ancestrals and sours, to tiki and punch. Cheers!

Breakfast Burritos & Berry Shakes

But we’re most excited about finally getting a breakfast burrito done well. They will also serve a wide selection of all-day breakfast items including eggs benedict; mushroom-tofu scramble; and the restaurant’s signature Eggy Bread, custard-filled French toast. And if you’re not a morning person, these other options will make you go to bed early - Old-Fashioned Oatmeal; Baked Beans on Toast; Pancakes; Waffles; and The NYC Skillet.

Wash it all down Riverdale style with one milkshake, two straws. You and your date can share Serendipity’s Frozen Hot Chocolate; French Vanilla and Winter Berry shakes; smoothies made from vegetables, oatmeal and Koinonia coffee; fresh juices; hot chocolate; and turmeric lattes.

Beyond Eggs

Egg lovers, other less important food groups also live here. The Bar Nibbles section promises pretzels and dips and trendy flavoured popcorn; while short eats, soups and salads will take care of all your drink accompaniments from five types of tacos (Mexican minced beef for the win) to Staten Island Sea Food Broth. Bruschetta and sandwiches borrow meats and cheeses from the Deli (yay for the New England lobster roll!); and the Clean Food division caters to those with real and faux gluten allergies, and also offers healthy bowl meals containing quinoa and sweet potato; lean meats; and baked fish.

Another great new addition to the menu is the New York Slice featuring pizza topped with four cheeses, artichokes, chorizo and a fancy lobster-truffle cream one. Larger appetites can be fed with large plates that include mushroom casserole and beef curry polenta, plus pork chops and lamb racks.

Sweeten the deal with New York Cheesecake; NYC Sundaes; s’mores and house-made ice-creams.

What You Should Doggy Bag

The Benedict also houses a full-fledged bakery, so your to-go bag can be filled with all kinds of treats - breads (multi-grain loaf, focaccia, French baguette, bagels); crown garlic bread; the restaurant’s wildly popular mini rainbow bagels (one dozen, with cream cheese); chocolate muffins, and on weekends, brioche loaves, cronuts, donuts and more.

Bring your friends and pick a spot at The Benedict, which spreads over three floors and 2,700 square feet; and its floor-to-ceiling windows let all the light in.

We know you like your Benedict runny, but we’re happy to report that this one’s super well done. And for once, that’s a good thing.
