Now that the rains have finally stopped (please God, let it be so), it’s a good time to hit the Expressway and zoom down to Moonshine Meadery, which has recently opened its doors to mead aficionados, curious drinkers and general stragglers who might enjoy a drop of sweetness. All are welcome to The Hive.
Book a tasting and you’ll get a tour of Moonshine’s super swanky meadery, which over the last two years has evolved from a kitchen sink project to a DIY shed to the current avatar, spread over 4000 square feet and 30 feet tall.
Once inside, the Moonshine team will walk you through the facilities where you can spot all the action, from brewing to bottling; plus, they’ll take you through the twisty history of the world’s oldest alcohol - don’t worry, it’s way more fun than the last history class you took.
Plus, unlike in school, this class encourages drinking – in fact, it offers a tasting of Moonshine’s three flagship flavours, and also a dip into the secret, unnamed bottles from the mead labs, where you’ll get to try and comment on flavours they’re still experimenting on – look out for a guava-chilli version we still think about.
Moonshine doesn’t offer any food yet, but if you’re a big enough group, they’ll help organize a full spread for you, with a caterer and even a music act – something they’re promising to have on weekends as part of their regular programming too.
For now, remember to carry a snack – and appoint a designated driver.
Getting there: Register here to visit, Rs 500 per person for a tour + tasting.
