Bored of your rajma-chawal diet but still want to stick close to home? Say hello to Punjab Grill’s festival that celebrates the dishes of Sindh, from April 6thto 14th, 2019. The Sindh Da Swad festival is one of the many ways Punjab Grill is showcasing the diverse and often overlooked cuisines of India.
Curry from Karachi might come as a bit of a surprise, but it turns out that Sindhi food is heavily influenced by both Indian and Arab traditions, and lives in the cuisines of cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Hirabad and Larkana.
Helmed at Punjab Grill by chef Jyoti Vishnani (a Masterchef India contestant and assistant to Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna as well as Sanjeev Kapoor), the cuisine comes alive with intricate, carefully prepared dishes that are both familiar and excitingly unexpected.
On the menu you’ll find everything from Sindhi Kari to dal pakwaan, a rich blended dal served on crispy puris and garnished with onions, green chillies and chutney. Other dishes include Tidali daal, Deg wari Bhaji, Green Saiyal Chicken, Bhugal Mutton, Thoom wari Mach chi, all of which can be mopped up with jowar bread, koki, dodda or biryani. We can’t wait to try the bhugal rice, flavoured with onions, cardamom and cinnamon. Delish!
This meal will be a culinary journey across the border and back. Crossing over has never been this much fun!
