Wine Villa: This wine-on-tap restaurant – the first in the country – holds a treasure of over 100 varieties of wine from across the world. A specially imported winedispensary machine serves 60 wines on tap in taster (15ml), half-glass and full-glass options, which means optimists and pessimists are both welcome. This cricket season, they’re hosting The Cricket Meltdown, screening the matches and offering temperature based discounts; temperature outside = discount inside, so start hoping for it to get real hot. Offer Valid from 1st ball to last ball of the match, and temperature will be measured during billing. Score!
266 The Wine Room & Bar: Two Le Cordon Bleu aprons run this little wine bar, hidden in plain sight on an arterial Bandra road. Sahil Arora and Riddhi Merchant craft a culinary menu using seasonal ingredients, sourcing German-style bread from Alibaug and cheese from Pune and Tamil Nadu. Guarding the bar’s biggest treasure - 150+ wine collection - is sommelier Parth, who moved here from New Zealand. Ask him for Lord of the rings shoot locales but also for his wine pairing recommendations and wine flight details.
Thirsty 127: One of the most interesting wine programs in the city right now comes out of Thirsty 127. Sommelier Vishvas Sadana sources “terroir” wines from small farmers and manufacturers around the world, including trendy third generation growers in Santenay, France and Mosel, Germany. Each selection is supported by a little story and sketch of the wine maker, and this list changes seasonally. The best part: each of these wines can be ordered by the glass, so you can try more than one (or 5).
