Coppetto Artisan Gelato: Swirls among pearls, this new artisanal gelateria opened in Bandra’s jewelry district last month. Owner and chef Nikhil Jain, we’re told, studied gelato making in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, and is perhaps using his MBA degree to turn Coppetto into a chain. Our pick: the pistachio flavor.

The Curry Bros: Run by husband-wife duo Joshua & Neha, The Curry Brothers in Bandra serves delicious usually cooked by your mothers and grandmothers. We’re talking Kerala Stew, Irani Kheema and the comfort of Rajma Chawal. Some of their star dishes include an Alibaug Chicken Curry, Nalli Nihari & Mrs D's Chocolate Cake. They deliver too, so remember that home-style meals can now be ordered on demand.

Karachi Bakery & Café: This bakery, originally from Hyderabad, is like a biscuit museum where you can linger over flaky choices. The coconut cookie is deliciously old-school; Osmania biscuits are so buttery, they collapse to the touch, the veritable salt biscuits of your childhood; jeera and ajwain versions will have you reconsidering everything you know about biscuits, pairing sharp pungent flavours with sweet, warm subtleties; and the almond biscotti score full points, loaded with badam and poised for a coffee dunk.

The Little Easy: Pre-prohibition cocktails and canary-yellow pies at this speakeasy-inspired bar where gimlets win over gimmick. Thankfully, it requires neither a password nor a secret handshake to let you in. Hunt & Peck, a rose-gold drink laced with vermouth and grapefruit bitters, is tailor-made for your all-day drinking plans this holiday season!

Madras Diaries: Get a seat in the al fresco section and order the medu and vazhaipoo vadas (made of banana flower), both light and crunchy; you’ll really enjoy the pops of crushed black pepper and saunf in the respective batters. Skip dessert and end with many cups of filter coffee. Foam coming!

House of Mandarin: This was perhaps one of the most awaited, and ultimately the most disappointing opening in Bandra this year. Our reviewer recommends you skip everything else and get only the duck that’s stuffed like an Xmas goose. Happy Holidays!
