Of all the food groups in town, secret sources are our favourite. This time, our insider tells us that Sri Lanka’s seafood restaurant Ministry of Crab might be eyeing a space in the BKC One building, and is poised to open later this year.
The crab will wash up here via Silver Beach Hospitality group (they run Radio Bar and Estella), but someone from their team tells us that the talks are currently too preliminary to be excited over.
If you’ve been to Ministry of Crab though, you’d be excited too. The restaurant, started by chef Dharshan Munidasa who teamed up with cricketers Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, is #43 on Asia’s Best Restaurants List 2016. Their garlic chilli crab and avocado crab salad is top class, but so are the non-crabby meals that include oysters, groupers and massive tiger prawns that stew in curry.
Will you have to book a ticket to Colombo to be a groupie to their grouper? We’ll keep an eye out as the BKC news develops and let you know.
