Sandwiched between Little Women and 50 Shades of Grey, a Suitable Boy awaits in the lobby of T24 Residency, Mumbai’s new transit hotel. He’s here in the “Traveller’s Library” – basically a giant round shelf in the lobby – should you need someone to accompany you to your room.

Located five minutes away from the international airport, T24 Residency is meant to aid those in a rush. Which means you can check-in online and go straight up to your room instead of waiting at the reception when you arrive. The hotel is also equipped with breakfast-to-go facilities, check-in kiosks for flights and a pillow menu to make your short naps as comfy as possible.

Connected to the rooftop pool is a bar called Toast, which despite housing all the clichés from pop print upholstery to mason jars, is already populated with travellers from around the world and seems like a fun place to drink.

Rooms To Grow

At this four-star boutique hotel, the lobby looks a little run-down, scattered as it is with IKEA-like furniture; but the rooms are surprisingly fancy, with views of airplanes taking off and landing at the T2 terminal. Connected to the rooftop pool is a bar called Toast (run by the same guys behind The Den in Bandra), which despite housing all the clichés from pop print upholstery to mason jars, is already populated with travellers from around the world and seems like a fun place to drink.

On our way back down in the elevator, manager Jai Masurekar tells us: “It’s only been three weeks since we started, and we’re almost running full.”

“Touch wood,” he adds quickly. And we’re at the lobby library again, facing 50 Shades of Grey. Um, no thanks.

Getting there: T24 Residency, Church Road, near Airport Road Metro Station, Andheri (E) Marol, call 29203818, visit http://t-24.in, start at Rs 5,000 per night.
