We can only try so hard to refrain from saying ‘ex marks the spot’, when Anusha Yadav talks about her long-time-ago break up, the specter of her ex boyfriend haunting her at all their “usual places” in Mumbai.

“There was Zenzi, and then there was my old Bandra apartment,” she says. And if you trace your finger along the Love Map, you’ll find these places marked with her name on it.

The city maps launched online just yesterday, and already have entries marking Lodhi Road in Delhi; Christ University in Bangalore; St. Xaviers College hostel, Hawaiian Shack and railway platforms in Mumbai.

This is Anusha’s newest venture – she also runs The Memory Company - one that calls people to mark the spot where they fell in love in Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore (other city maps coming soon). “Crowdsourcing your heart,” she calls it, a venture that like most of her plans, “began on a whim”. Inspired by Becky Cooper’s Mapping Manhattan project in New York, these city Love Maps involve “an emotional plotting of the city to find out how we connect memories and physical spaces,” she says.

If PDA is not your thing, Anusha, who is also a graphic and book designer, can make a pretty map pour toi, getting all your friends to mark the place they first met you. “I did this as a birthday gift for filmmaker Paromita Vohra recently,” she says. Or more interestingly, you can choose to identify all your first dates and kisses across a city, or depending on your mode of operation, around the world.
