A lush garden with bursts of colour and white tables seems more suited for tea than trading, but the big screens here indicate that the floor is getting its fair share of action.
Agent Jack’s Bar is the latest offering from Bangalore’s original party boys, the partners at Cirrus. Like many stock exchange-themed bars that have opened up recently, this one asks you to download its app and start bidding for booze. Here, if you’re lucky, you could get your favourite premium gin at as low as Rs 131 for 30 ml or a bottle of fancy wine for Rs 983. Agent Jack’s also displays the trades on a big screen, allowing you to hedge your bets with the next order.
Hoping to spend less time on our smart phones and more in the real world, we decide to order cocktails directly off the menu. The first to arrive in a stout little teapot is Laughing Kettle, an uninspired mix of vodka with jasmine-infused tea. Malt Berry Berry, luckily, is a high return on investment. It presents itself in a glistening high glass, laced with boozy berries and whiskey with a mellow citrusy tang.

Blue Chips & Dip
The food menu is mostly restricted to bar snacks. Tandoor aloo with Jack special spices isn’t particularly special, but spicy Jack chili chicken, a cross between Indian and Chinese, is a perfectly competent accompaniment with drinks. For mains, our server recommends char grill chicken with mash and vegetables. A starchy pepper and mushroom sauce elevates the protein giving it an air of earthiness, while the buttery mashed potato deserves a standalone mention. Goan prawn curry thickened in a tomato marinade would perhaps work better with bread instead of boiled rice, but the generous portion of juicy prawns makes us forgive the oversight.
The kitchen isn’t serving dessert on our visit, so we comfort ourselves with another round of cocktails. We can feel our evening rallying.
